Absolutely not. Unlike vinegar, which leaves a lingering sour odor and taste, our plant-based tablets are 100% odorless and tasteless. The formula is designed to rinse away completely with just one fresh water cycle, leaving your machine neutral and clean so you only taste your coffee beans.

We recommend descaling every 1–3 months depending on your daily usage and the hardness of your water.

  • Heavy Use / Hard Water: Once a month.
  • Moderate Use / Soft Water: Every 3 months.
  • Pro Tip: If your machine has a "Descale" or "Clean" indicator light, use our tablets immediately when it turns on to prevent permanent damage.

Yes, in most cases. The light is triggered by a sensor detecting mineral buildup. Our concentrated formula dissolves that mineral scale, which should reset the sensor and turn off the light.

  • Note: If your machine hasn't been cleaned in years, the scale might be hardened. You may need to run two consecutive cleaning cycles (using two separate tablets) to fully break down the old deposits and reset the light.

For Standard/Drip Machines: Drop the tablet directly into the water reservoir and let it dissolve.

For Keurig/Pod Machines: Remove the water filter (if you have one), drop the tablet into the full water reservoir, let it dissolve, and run brew cycles without a pod until the tank is empty.

For Espresso Machines: Follow your manufacturer's specific instructions (usually dissolving in the tank or placing in a blind portafilter for backflushing).

These are just about as convenient as it gets to clean your coffee machine routinely. I live in LA, so water spots are expected, clogging in machines is expected, so keeping all of the downsides to hard water at bay is important for you and your machine. The brewed coffee tastes great after as does the hot/boiled water. Overall, it's a great product at a decent price. Even if you use 2 a month, it's a tad over $1 per month which is well worth it for the peace of mind not to have a gunky machine. I highly recommend these and this brand.

After doing two separate cleaning cycles and rinsing, the build-up was greatly reduced and by rubbing remaining residue with a towel I got the coffee maker looking much cleaner than it was before! It is an older 12 cup coffee maker with daily use and hasn't been regularly cleaned. If I use these tablets monthly there should be no more scummy white buildup in my coffee maker. These tablets come in a sturdy plastic tub with screw on lid and each tablet is individually wrapped. There is absolutely no odor to these tablets when dry or dissolved and they were really easy to use.

De-scaling the coffee maker also helps to produce a better tasting cup of joe because tannins can build up where the oils from the coffee are left behind in the filter casement container. These tablets help with that too. There are twenty four tablets in this canister and the process of using them to clean the coffee maker is really straightforward and easy to accomplish. I do appreciate that the tablets arrived in a canister which makes a good storage container for the tablets until they are needed the next time. The tab opens easily and begins to fizz immediately. It seemed as if it was going to take some time, but I turned to do something else, and within a moment, it was completely dissolved. I smelled nothing, and went on with my machine's descaling mode. The tablets are clean and function quickly and easily. I ran through the descaling and then rinsed the machine as instructed. This morning, with a new water filter (also a first) I made my cup of coffee. Now drinking it, I do notice a difference. It simply feels cleaner. I was concerned that the taste would be adversely affected, but it's still a great cup. I never saw any scale so I guess it is dissolved.
